Julián Santero venció en la apertura del Campeonato Argentino 2020 de Turismo Nacional Clase 3, cuya fecha se disputó en el Autódromo Ezequiel Crisol, donde más de 35.000 personas fueron testigos de la reinauguración del escenario bahiense, y del regreso del Turismo Nacional al trazado de la Asociación Empleados de Comercio, tras diez años sin competencias allí.

El piloto mendocino mantuvo un mano a mano sin pausas con José Manuel Urcera en la segunda parte de la competencia, surgiendo dicha disputa luego del retraso de Facundo Chapur, quien cuando marchaba en el segundo lugar debió ingresar a boxes para reemplazar el neumático delantero derecho, perdiendo valiosas chances de obtener un podio en la primera prueba anual que se disputó a 22 giros, sobre un total de 24 pactadas, dado que en dos ocasiones debió aplicarse el sistema de largada demorada por inconvenientes en los autos de Jonatan Castellano y Fabricio Pezzini.

La carrera perdió tempranamente un candidato a obtener un lugar en el podio, tratándose de Juan Pipkin, no pudiendo el piloto local completar siquiera una vuelta de carrera tras un despiste, acusando un roce con Mariano Werner. Con Facundo Chapur retrasado y la disputa puntual, en la segunda mitad, entre Julián Santero y José Manuel Urcera, Leonel Pernia se consolidaba en el tercer lugar y Santiago Mallo en el cuarto puesto, cumpliendo el cordobes una destacada actuación en su cuarta carrera dentro de la categoría.

La condición de pista fue empeorando, a raíz de la suciedad que redujo la adherencia, siendo dicho factor el que intentó aprovechar José Manuel Urcera para intentar superar a Julián Santero, quien finalmente llegó como vencedor en la competencia luego de 31m33s661, ganando en el debut del equipo Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina en Turismo Nacional Clase 3. José Manuel Urcera y Leonel Pernia formaron el primer podio de la temporada, mientras que Santiago Mallo y Mariano Werner completaron los cinco primeros del fin de semana.

Julián Santero lidera el Campeonato Argentino 2020 de Turismo Nacional Clase 3 sumando 42 puntos. José Manuel Urcera (34), Leonel Pernia (30), Santiago Mallo (29) y Mariano Werner (25) son los primeros pilotos en ordenarse en la tabla anual cuya segunda fecha será en el Circuito José Carlos Bassi (Villa Mercedes, San Luis), entre los días 13, 14 y 15 de marzo.
