Gustavo Santibáñez ganó su serie y llegó segundo en una final que lo tuvo como protagonista en Rafaela
El mendocino Gustavo Santibáñez fue una de las figuras de la cuarta fecha del TS1800, llegando segundo en la final de Rafaela. El oriundo de San Martín peleó hasta el final con Santiago Robledo y casi le arrebata la victoria.
Durante todo el fin de semana, Santibáñez dejó en claro que no se le iba a escapar el podio, pero pensando en el certamen, sabía que con su Peugeot 206 necesita ganar para poder pelear la corona. Sabiendo que tenía chances, puso todo y luego de clasificar segundo, ganó su serie y fue con todo a la final.
Frente a un Santiago Robledo muy firme, Gustavo progresó y condujo en su mejor nivel para darle alcance y lo consiguió a falta de tres giros. Estuvo muy cerca de capturar la vanguardia, pero en uno de sus intentos se pasó en la chicana y quedó lejos de quien finalmente ganaría. De todas formas, achicó distancias en el campeonato y el segundo lugar final deja a Santibáñez a 18,5 puntos, con una carrera especial por delante.
“El candidato era Robledo por lo rápido que le va el motor, pero yo sabía que tenía armas para pelear. Mejoramos muchísimo con los frenos y salió como habíamos pensado. Lo único que me dejó amargado es que cuando alcancé a Robledo sobre el final, a los dos se nos vino para atrás el chasis y yo venía un poquito mejor, pero me apuré en hacer la maniobra para intentar pasarlo. Eso me jugó en contra y no lo pude seguir en las últimas dos vueltas. Tuve la chance de ganar pero no se pudo luego de haberme pasado en la chicana”, analizó el cuyano, con el sinsabor de haber tenido la chance de subir a lo más alto del podio.
Finalmente, Gustavo profundizó: “El fin de semana fue bueno por los puntos, y sinceramente no me puedo poner contento porque quería ganar. En el equipo estamos conformes con lo que estamos haciendo, porque estoy mejorando y tenemos un auto espectacular. Vamos firmes para Córdoba, donde será la fecha con invitados, donde correré con Carlos Contín”.
La fecha venidera tendrá pilotos invitados para el TS1800, en una competencia a disputarse el fin de semana del 22 de julio en Alta Gracia con puntaje y medio en disputa.
